Food supplements are classified based on the substances they contain, or according to the objective sought with their consumption and the most common to formulate supplements are:
Vitamins and minerals. Vitamins A, B, C, D, E, iron, magnesium, calcium, zinc, among others. Amino acids. Components of proteins that the human body cannot synthesize. The essential ones are leucine, isoleucine, valine, methionine, lysine, phenylalanine, tryptophan, threonine, histidine, creatine, and arginine.
Degree acids. Essential for the body such as DHA, omega 3, 6, 7 and 9, which provide benefits to the immune, nervous and circulatory systems.
Fibers.Soluble or insoluble improve the intestinal tract, of which are inulin, galactooligosaccharides, fructooligosaccharides, pectins, among others.
Probiotics. Lactobacilli, enterococci, bifidocateria, among others that balance the intestinal flora, improve digestion and absorption of vitamins. Extracts or concentrates of plants, fruits or vegetables.
Proteins. Some such as glutamine, collagen, tryptophan and amino acids are proteins to improve sports performance and strengthen the musculoskeletal system.
